The Gallaudet Men’s Basketball team’s historic season came to an end this past weekend in the North Eastern Athletic Conference tournament. Morrisville State upset the Gallaudet Bison 72-68, after the team set a program record for wins this season.

Gallaudet, having never qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament, had a chance to tie the game when they were down three with 10 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately, their three-point attempt fell short and Morrisville secured the victory by converting 1 of 2 free throws with two seconds remaining.

Although their tournament hopes were short-lived, the Gallaudet Men’s Basketball team is nothing short of extraordinary. They are the nation’s only deaf basketball team and utilize constant eye contact, facial expressions, and body language to set up plays and communicate rather than calling out to one another. The Gallaudet Bison are an inspiration and a reminder to the world that anything is possible.
