If you have been recently following any college basketball at all then you would know that Lonzo Ball recently declared for the NBA draft following UCLA’s loss to Kentucky. His addition makes this draft class one of the deepest in years and he’s projected to be either the first or second pick of the draft. Ball, however, believes he should be selected ahead of current prospective number 1 pick Markelle Fultz.

Ball told ESPN, “Markelle’s a great player, but I feel I’m better than him. I think I can lead a team better than him,” Ball added. “Obviously he’s a great scorer – he’s a great player, so I’m not taking that away from him.” Lonzo Ball has shown just about everything this season. He tries to get the entire offense involved and is incredibly unselfish, shown by his nation-leading 7.7 assists per game.

He’s earned quite the respect from UCLA Head Coach Steve Alford: “The feel he has for the game is tremendous. He knows who should get the ball, when, what time of the game; whether we need foul shooting, or an inside basket or a three-point basket, he’s just got a great feel for that.” Teams will have quite the decision to make picking between Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball, two potential franchise players.
