Nike is introducing a performance hijab to better serve Muslim female athletes. They hope that the Nike Pro Hijab can “inspire more women and girls” in the Middle East who “face barriers and limited access to sport.”
This project has been in the works for over a year, and Nike reports that the hijab was crafted with a stretchy mesh fabric that enhances breathability and optimal function.
The hijab is already being worn by UAE’s first international figure skater, Zahra Lari:

Nike spokeswoman, Megan Saalfeld, expanded on the move by saying, “the Nike Pro Hijab was designed as a direct result of our athletes telling us they needed this product to perform better, and we hope that it will help athletes around the world do just that.”
The Pro Hijab is set to launch Spring 2018, in select Nike Middle Eastern Stores.
